The world around us offers bountiful resources for art and picture making. The fundamental elements and principles of design surround us. This workshop opens our eyes to experience nature as our teacher.

The quality of a line, color combinations, countless shades of greens and grays we see daily can be inspiration for calligraphic expression. Seeing 'emphasis' in a sunset, 'pattern' as trees in a forest, or 'rhythm' in the waves of an ocean helps us understand these design principles. We will work with words, emotions and letterforms and how they relate to color, line, texture, balance, movement and harmony to create calligraphic paintings. We will look at dynamic forms in nature to inspire new calligraphic marks and designs. Come with a willingness to see with new eyes and explore art in an open, creative and supportive environment.
